Ko Mākou Misiona
Holomua Outreach exists to support and uplift the lineal and generational houseless descendants of Maui, beginning with our longtime commitment to Holomua Road. Through trust-building and the strengthening of pilina, we provide consistent, compassionate care by delivering essential resources such as food, water, hygiene supplies, and critical donations. In partnership with Maui Rapid Response, we show up every week to ensure our community’s basic needs are met with dignity and aloha.
As our pilina has deepened, so has our kuleana. Holomua Outreach has expanded to mālama houseless communities across Maui—from Amala to Kahului, Lahaina, and beyond—responding to urgent needs while helping individuals and families secure photo IDs, enroll in SNAP benefits, and access medical insurance. These efforts remove barriers and create pathways toward greater stability and wellbeing.
Central to our mission is the development of our Environmental and Food Systems Workforce Development Cohorts. These programs create hands-on opportunities for individuals from the communities we serve to step into paid roles, gain skills, and build purpose. Through environmental restoration, non-displacing cleanups, fire mitigation, and locally sourced meal preparation, participants contribute directly to improving their communities while working toward long-term self-sufficiency.
Beyond meeting immediate needs, our vision is to create and protect safe spaces where people can find refuge, restore connection, and move forward with dignity. Rooted in culture, self-determination, and collective resilience, we are building a movement that uplifts our people, strengthens systems of care, and creates real pathways toward healing and stability for Maui’s most vulnerable.
