Holomua Outreach Timeline (November 2023 – August 2025)
In November 2023, Holomua Outreach began responding consistently to the needs of the houseless community along Holomua Road, providing weekly hot meals, water, and hygiene supplies while building trust and pilina with lineal and generational descendants of the moku.
By early 2024, we expanded our outreach through partnerships with Maui Rapid Response, Maui Rescue Mission, and grassroots allies, adding access to showers, laundry services, and donation hubs. We also began assisting community members with photo IDs, SNAP benefits, and medical insurance—removing barriers to stability and essential care.
Throughout 2024, Holomua Outreach grew into a leading voice for houseless advocacy, mobilizing volunteers for regular community cleanups, organizing trash and green waste removal, and creating pathways toward workforce development and self-determination.
In 2025, our efforts continued to expand across Maui—from Holomua Road to Amala, Kahului, Lahaina, and beyond—responding to urgent needs while advancing the vision of Holomua Village, a culturally grounded, trauma-informed safe space for 300+ people. By August 2025, Holomua Outreach had become both a trusted direct-service provider and a strong advocate for policy change, rooted in aloha ʻāina and the ancestral responsibility to uplift and protect our most vulnerable.
